French Military Withdraws from Chad

French troops handed over the last military base in Chad to local armed forces on Thursday. The transfer of the military base took place as part of the plan to withdraw French troops from Chad, planned back in 2020. This base was located in the town of Faya-Largeau in the northwest of the country.

"The transfer of the base in Chad is a crucial step in the withdrawal of French forces from the country," the French Ministry of Armed Forces reported. All operations were conducted in close cooperation with the authorities of Chad and in full solidarity with their interests.

"This procedure is part of the strategic repositioning of our military presence in the region, carried out in close partnership with African countries," emphasized representatives of the French Ministry of Armed Forces.
